A baby swing is a wonderful way to soothe and entertain a baby while giving you some
much needed hands-
Baby swing chairs are better than conventional child bouncers as they have different play options so mum or dad can customise it for their baby. Often parents find that movement is the only way to settle a grumpy baby, especially if they are suffering from colic, and baby swings offer a practical solution.
Your baby swing can easily be moved from room to room so your little one can still see mum while she grabs a quick shower or does the laundry! It’s vital that parents always keep a child in view in their baby swing.
Here are some things to look for when choosing a baby swing to buy:
Remember that all babies newborn wriggle and are surprisingly good at getting themselves
into dangerous situations. Therefore, you need to ensure that your baby swing is
as safe as possible -
These are important too -
Any toy bar or tray must be easily removeable as it makes getting your baby in and out of it so much easier, especially when they are asleep.
A travel baby swing a great device for many a home as they fold up for easy storage which is very handy if you have a relatively small home gradually being taken over by baby gear! And of course they are great for putting in the boot of the car when you are visiting relatives or other friends with babies.
Most baby swings are battery powered and allow for a range of sounds and speeds and functions. Ideally you should consider buying one with the greatest variety as every baby is different.
Almost all baby swings come with some built in sounds and some of them also give
you the option to plug in your mp3 player too -
It's often best to buy the most expensive baby swing chair you can comfortably afford,
rather than a cheap one that is very basic, made of lower grade plastic or wood,
and has very few built-
Most baby swings these days with some little toys but, to be honest, these are just an added bonus that will probably get very little play, considering most babies already have an abundance of other play things around the home. Better are the ones that have canopies and mobiles as little babies are enchanted by these.
A baby swing that converts to a toddler seat/swing is a nice option as you get longer use out of it, otherwise they last from birth until about 6 months old, but in general do hold their value if you want to sell them onwards later.
When your little one has outgrown their baby swing but is still too small for a proper swing, there are several options for you to bridge that gap, both for indoor and outdoor use.
A traditional wooden swing will always look classic and can be put up inside or out. Think about where you will put it though. If it is inside make sure you are confident that the door frame you are choosing will be able to bear the weight. The look great outdoors if you have a tree to hang them on but most come with a frame included or if you just buy a basic swing frame.
You could also opt for a cheap single toddler swing just like you get in the park. These will last until they are about 3 and are designed for outdoor use. You can get some that can be used for inside play too, if you have the space, and fold for easy storage.
The other option is to get a 'converter' seat which is a safe, harnessed toddler seat which simply attaches to an existing standard swing. This is a good option if you have older children as it makes the swing very versatile.
